You don't make it clear what you think is terrible and pathetic.
You either think it is terrible that they propose to raise the standards, and thus make it more difficult, or you think it is terrible that people are graduating from high school without the skills needed for college or the workplace.
I read that they gave a large group of Community College students a test, and slightly more than half could pass it - this test was the test that you had to pass to get out of 8th grade in 1902 in Oregon.
People used to have to do more and worked harder at it in former days. These days, people feel entitled to what they used to have to work for.

the pathetic thing is that the students arent ready for college. i'm in school now and i think what the board of education is doing is good for the students. it will prepare them so they can be ready for college. this is the first time in my ENTIRE LIFE that i agree with the BOA (board of education). im for the new idea 100% and i dont care how much thumbs downs i get for this answer, i am entitled to my opinion, and this is my opinion
