2(root 12) can be 4(root 3)
(root 27) can be 3(root 3)
(root 48) can be 4(root 3)

You then add them all up: 4 + 3 - 4 = 3(root 3)

Answer 3(root 3)
In decimal form, 3(root 3) = 5.1961

Okay, since 12,27, and 48 are not perfect squares, you need to simply them to the highest perfect square that is a multiplyer.
I will use > to show square root as I work it out for you, but I was a little confused if it was 2 times >12, but that is how I will work it for you...
2*>12+>27->48=
2*>(4*3)+>(3*9)->(16*3)=
2*2>3+3>3-4>3=
4>3+3>3-4>3=
3>3
I know it is hard to understand with the different symbol, but write it out and it will make more sense. Once you simplify the numbers within the square roots you are able to remove part of them and come up with a common denominator of sorts. If the number inside the square root is not the same you cannot add or subtract the numbers. Please email me if you need more explanation, I just finished a course with this stuff for college last semester.

Simplify it -
The square root of 12 is the square root of 4 * the square root of 3. The square root of 4 is 2 so that part is 2 * square root of 3

Do the same for the square root of 27 (9 * 3) and the square root of 48 (16 * 3)

Then add together.

3 times the square root of 3
square root of 12 = 2 *sqrt3 * 2 = 4*sqrt3
27 = 3*sqrt3
48 = 4*sqrt3

I don't see how this can be simpified since neither 12, 27, or 48 are perfect squares.

2 sqrt12 + sqrt 27 - sqrt48 = 2 sqrt(4 * 3) + sqrt (9*3) -sqrt (16*3)

= 2(2)sqrt3 + 3sqrt3 - 4sqrt 3 = (4+3-4)sqrt3

=3sqrt3

the equation can broken down as follows.

=2 (square root 4)(square root 3) + (square root 9)(square root3) - (square root16)(square root3)

= 4(square root3) + 3(square root3) -4(square root3)

=3(square root3)

ok, here goes. sq rt of 12 is 3.4641016, sq rt of 27 is 5.1961524, and sq rt of 48 is 6.9282032. So 3.4641016 x 2 is 6.9282032.
that + 5.1961524 is 12.1243556. this - 6.9282032 is 5.1961524.

The final answer is 5.1961524.

I gave answers at each step so you could round at whatever point required.
