Photo-finish is when the winner and second, neck-to-neck, do a very close race and finish almost together, such that it takesw a photo to tell the difference and decide who the winner is! With your camera, you probably want to shoot a picture, or, clean the camera, or, process a film after shooting, or, 'finish' the roll loaded by taking maximum number of pictures: anyway, 'photo-finish' is not the word for any of that!

A photo finish refers to a close result, originally used in horse races to determine the winner. Do you mean in your example that you want to finish off the roll of film in the camera? That would be the most common way to phrase that.

photo finish implies a close race,usually in horse racing ehen a photo had to be examined to determine which horse crossed the finish line first.
wiining by a nose is similar,or by the skin of your teeth(dont know w
here this one originated but it used to be a common expression)
your example of photo finishing your kodak is not apt.
