I go to a high school in which Asians are a minority. About 5%. I've encountered many racist incidents and I find it very hard to ignore. Although I feel that the best way to confront this situation is to ignore it, I get very angered and disturbed when they judge me by what I look like. I hate it when they go in their groups and say racist comments when I pass by. I don't know if they're ignorant, feel the need to be superior, or whatever. A while ago, a friend of mine who moved from Japan was confronted by racist comments the first time in her life. In this way, she's gained strong dislike towards the races that have insulted her and I feel that she too has become a racist herself without realizing it. I don't think racism can be ignored because many people have problems with saying things without realizing what they've said. I don't have any issues with any race but I feel like they have an issue with me being Asian.

I've never been in your situation. Obviously, according to my avatar, I'm white. I'm not racist though. For what it's worth, I've heard many good things about asians. Mainly from my dad who's worked all over the world. His favorite country was an asian one. My boyfriend is Mexican. He didn't know what racism was until he came to the states. I don't know why we caucasians(not all of us, not myself) like, and think we have the right, to feel superior than others. I don't how to answer your question, since I've never experience it myself, but I thought maybe something I've said will make you feel better. I know, as you know, that lots of people are ignorant. If you'll notice, most of these racist slurs come from the younger people. Not necessarily the uneducated ones, but definately from the ones who haven't been around or experienced a whole lot of life yet. I know it also can't be ignored to a certain point. All I know is don't take it out on the next one. There is a Will Smith song about that. My regards.

So what if you're asian? Believe it or not, ignoring them is a good way of showing that you don't care/you don't answer to/about racist. Besides i'm sure not all of the school s you. If you have friends then stick to them. If not, find some who are open to different ures and all.

See no evil, hear no evil. Like you said, just ignore and they will see that you dont care, then they will be like "he doesnt care anymore." Its just one of those phases people go through. Just make sure they done physically hurt you. The more you pay attention to what they are saying the more insulted youre going to feel. So just live life comfortable without listening to those punks.

Well I don't really get much racist comments, being white (I wish I was asian T_T). But whenever I see someone being racist or being mean to someone else I tend to tell them to stop and stop being immature, insecure idiots. For some reason it works, probably because people at my school think I'm like evil or something, i dunno. I'm sorry to hear that your friend had to deal with that and I hope that she can get over it eventually. Also if you continue to be insulted then go tell someone about it. Best of luck to you!

Lift weights daily. Asians have small builds that make them look like easy targets. When you have the strnegth to physically crush a human skull no one will mess with you. If they do then penalize them for it with a trip to the hospital. But if they don't touch you who cares? It's better to keep stupid people stupid then to try and educate them, because then you are doing them a favor.
