In their eyes it seems like "help" but it's only putting a blanket on the problems. The problems will only grow and multiply when ignored.

I agree. Drugs can speed up, slow down, start and stop processes occurring in the body. Which can help people "get through" things. Drugs can also stabilize individuals as well as destabilize them, both scenarios are often sought after.
Drugs (particularly illegal drugs) can help people take their mind off of an issue they might rather want to be ignorant of or maybe even temporarily ignorant of.
Take for example myself, I play counter-strike as if it were a drug because it allows me to focus all of my conscious thought on playing an insignificant game which helps me to ignore the fact that I find little to no value in my life at current. Of course I only mean for this to be a temporary stage because I am seeking higher education but right now I'm not really doing what I would like to be doing. Soon I will address this issue head on but for now I'd just like to relax, so I engage fully in my playing of CS.

I think people are thinking to broad on this topic and are forgetting the essential element that even things like coffee is a drug due to its caffeine abilites and because of our very hectic lives - drugs like these help us in the short term to get through many things. Furthermore, drugs for the mentally ill like those with schizophrenia would not be able to live a normal life or even communicate with those they love without the help of drugs. So the question that you should be asking is what kind of drugs

More or less, it boils down to rather or not the drug is for medicinal purposes or recreation. The other factors to consider are the following: are the drugs done in excess, the effect on work/financial/life/relationships, and is the drug effecting you to the point that you are spiraling out of control and in need of rehab. Essentially at the end, the only one that can save you is you and its time that you face the truth before you are 10 feet under.

Its hard to say. Growing up, my mom had a lot of mental health issues. It was devastating for me. Once I got into high school, i started hanging out with a bunch of girls who also had difficult lives and family dynamics. The fact that they didn't care was refreshing to me. Up til then, Id spent so much time worrying and trying to fix things--then all of a sudden I was care free! I started smoking pot, and eventually came the harder stuff. And you know, id did help me get through it. I guess it gave me a distraction from my chaotic world more than it helped. They gave me a focus, something to immerse myself in. I dont like the word "help" being referenced to drug use. Anyhow, after college I quit. I think it was because my world was no longer chaotic...now it was under my control. That was very refreshing. Now I immerse myself in school, and I have gone to therapy to "help" me deal with my past. That reallly did help me get my ducks in a row. I dont think drugs help. I think they distract. Which can be valuable in itself, depending on the situation. Though overall it is not a healthy way to cope.

Hmmmm, well, the doctor gives me drugs to help heal my wounds both physical and mental, so yes, it does help get through many things. These are under a doctor's supervision though. If you are talking illegal drugs, then no.

absolutely no.! why do i say so?? simply because, well...you see..maybe for a while you'll forget all your problems but think of what will happen next. You'll have more big problems...for example, you'll get addicted to drugs and it leads to some serious problem --- you'll spend your money buying drugs, you'll do things you don't even know that you're already doing...and many more...

Disagree. Hard times don't last; hard people do. Drugs are for the softer folk. Good luck.

Drugs are made to stimulate and change our internal body system and structure. So you tell me, live for the drugs or live for yourself, be real to who you were born to be. Peace and true joy to all my fellow humans.
