If you get a grade of 62% with 25 wrong...how many points is the test worth. I am going over my sons test and found a lot of correct answers marked wrong and need to make sure he gets the correct grade.....help me please, I am tired and want to chew this teacher a new one!

I have had this problem with this teacher before. Her grading makes not one lick of sense to me. Some questions have to receive two answers but is only worth one point while other questions that require more than one answer are give a point for each part of the question...(ie. Fill in a pyramid with the proper egyptian social classes - worth 5 points. Then it is Wat is the longest river in the world? How long is it? - worth 1 point) I completely do not understand this lousy teacher's logic here. And in the Ancient Egyptian Social Class pyramid (there are 4 levels) each is worth 1 point. My son answered from highest class to lowest as follows - Pharoah, upper class, lower class and peasants. The answers should be Pharoah, upper class, middle class, and peasants. SO technically he only got one of those wrong!

I obviously can't speak for the teacher...but I used to teach
I do know that sometimes my points were not only reflective of how many answers were required, but the degree of difficulty and the relative importance it had to the content being tested.
I may give a question a value of 5 points because it dealt with something I felt critical. Or because I knew it was hard.
That was often more of deciding factor then how many blanks/parts there were to fill in. Each "answer" wasn't always worth the same value. A teacher will sit down, write the questions, assign a point value on each questions based on degree of dificulty & importance. Then add for the total points possible. It is up to her as to whether or not she wants to award partial credit for partially correct answers.
So if the question is to list in order for 5 points, and the student does not, then it is not correct, (although it may be partially correct). It's one question, worth x points, and they either got it right for the points or they do not. Depending on the teacher - some are okay with partial credit for "close" answers and some are not.
Now - if it said to list in order for 1 point each - then that may be different. Then the student may have reason to expect that each class is treated as an individual question and can be graded indpenedently.
make an appointment with the teacher and sit down and ask her to go over it with you so you understand.
== But do yourself (and your son) a favor - come at it from a "I want to understand" place and not a "I don't get you place". The last thing you want is to put her on the defensive. If she is an unfair teacher, this could make the problem worse.++
Hope that helps.

a grade of 62% means 62% correct, 38% incorrect.
if 38% of a whole is 25, then the whole is 66 quesitons.
that means he got 66-25 = 41 questions correct, and
41/66 = 62.12% (close enough.)
assuming they're all worth the same amount of points. usually not.

Well, it is the teacher's job to teach and your child's job to study and learn the subject matter. It is YOUR job to support both in their efforts to do the best they can.
Going after a teacher with an attitude of "chewing her a new one" is not going to help you, or your son in the slightest.
Make an appointment with the teacher and go over it calmly and rationally - how the grading works, why different questions have different point values. Things that YOU (yes, you) might do to help your child succeed more with his studying. Your child is responsible for his grades - make him step up to the plate, but be willing to coach him only as necessary until he gets the hang of it. Never do his homework, never do his research for him and don't ever let him see that he can "win" over the teacher by running to Mommy.

To be able to determine the correct answer I would need to know the amount of questions over all. Well not really I am calculating each question is worth 1.52 points and that should be equivalent to 66 questions. If the amount of questions is wrong then don't use my total. Otherwise provide us with more information please

each wrong anser is 1.51 points from 100%
I take it the test has 66 questions ?
because 25 wrong of 66 questions is 38% wrong which would be a 62%
