Big dipper and Little dipper?

Can you see the Big Dipper or the Little Dipper from South East Florida, like Fort Lauderdale?

You can see the Little Dipper all the time, and the Big Dipper most of the time.

Yes, but what may be more suprising is that you can see the Southern Cross from the Everglades or the Overseas Highway, but only in brief periods in spring.

The dippers are also too dim to be noticed much in your very light polluted sky, you can see only 3 out of the 7 Little Dipper stars and 6 out of the 7 Big Dipper stars.

Yes you could. They will be relatively low in the north.

The Big Dipper will be standing on its tail late in the evening. (You can't see the end of the tail until approx. 10 pm from Ft Lauderdale, at ths time of year).

The Little Dipper is very hard to see, especially from any urban area (light pollution).

The end of its tail is Polaris, the pole star. The pouring end of the dipper is in the direction of the tail of the Big Dipper, a little less than half way from Polaris to the tail of Big Dipper. The rest of the stars in the Little Dipper are faint.

Yes, look north

The North Star (Polaris) is at the tip of the little dipper (Ursa Minor). I always find it by looking at the big dipper "sides of the dipper" which point to Polaris. The North Star looks stationary as the earth revolves. The other stars circle around it all night.
