No,never thought of that but my brother did this once when a telemarketer kept calling over and over on the same day....he pressed *69 and when someone answered he said "What?" When the person on the other end asked what he meant, he said " You called me! What did you want?" This person hung up so he redialed a couple more times, same conversation, same woman. On the last try, she said angrily " Sir, stop calling here!" To which he replied " Exactly!" and hung up. To date, that company has never bothered him again.

That's an interesting question. I get driven mad with constant calling a round tea/dinner time every day on my home phone but never on my cell phone. I wonder why that is. I do know there are people out there that sell lists of contact numbers to these sales types for profit. So matbe because it's all about money, it's cheaper to call you at home - maybe. Good question!

If it's from a company I've had business with I respectably wait for the first pause (or where that pause should be) then say, "thank you, but no thank you, you can check me in six months if you want - I have to go right now," and I gently hang up on them. I've never had someone LET me go, so I always cut off the conversation without going any further. If it's a company soliciting out of the blue (never had business with me before, like strangers) I interrupt immediately and say, "oh, thank you, no thank you," and hang right up on them. No slamming the phone, no snottiness, just quick and to the point so they can move on without being uptight and sticking their tongue out at their phone.

I once answered, and thought I hit the end button, but I didn't and an hour later noticed that the line was still open. I don't know how long they stayed on, but they heard my husband and I in the bedroom.

I either just hang up on them... I get rude with them and tell them to stop calling all the time (Verizon has been calling a lot here lately)... And sometimes if i have time i just let them go on and on and talk just to let them waste their breath then i'll tell them i'm not interested then hang up... Now on the other hand when they call my brothers house they usually hang up on him first cause he cusses them out LOL...

Nope. Usually if there is no number on the caller I.D, I let the answering machine get it. They hang up before my greeting message has finished.

my reaction to a telemarketer varies from being very polite and listening and acting interested, to hanging up immediately, to politely telling them i am not interested. it depends upon my mood.

No, I just ask them for their home phone number so I can call them back when I am not so busy. They don't like that to much. LOL.
