The Civil Rights Movement is one of the most pivotal series of events in American history.
This country was founded on the ideal that all men are created equal; the institution of slavery in this country made a mockery of that ideal from the outset. Racial separation and segregation supported by the laws of the country continued long after the Civil War. The Civil Rights Movement made this country face its national disgrace, and changed the laws of the land to finally reflect that worthy idealism in fact.
Dr. King's was an eloquent, impassioned voice. He was one of the driving forces behind the Civil Rights Movement, and paid for it with his life. By anyone's standards, that's pretty much the biggest contibution a person can make to better the society in which they live.

The idea that the Civil Rights Movement, which has been in existence since the 1800's, spurred an anti-white movement or reverse racism is erroneous at best. I'm sorry, but as much as I hear that one, I have yet to hear a half-way decent explanation to that assertion. So please, if you don't mind Rockstyle_Star and others who also believe that this is true, explain how your rights, as a Caucasian American, have been diminished while minorities of different races, ages and sex have fought to level the playing field for everyone.

Martin LUTHER KING was the United States Greatest and most powerful Speakers and Champion for Equality, Ethnic, Racial and Cultural Justice in the United States.
Listening to his words now takes one back to what know seems obviously true about this man and the fact that powerful forces inside the Government of the Untied States so hated this great African American Spokesmen for all of the people of the United States, that they, the Government Employees managed to so inflame the people of the Southern part of the United States that someone almost nameless would take a gun and destroy this man in the name of an ugly past and elevate him, Martin Luther to the Wings of Greatness in America.
It is both sad and a miracle that Martin Luther King was there and stood up to this challenge and changed America despite the price he almost predicted himself, "Thank God Almighty for Martin Luther King, and all that he stood for, and those who stood with him."

A famous, though badly phrased, quote.
"...We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."
It should be "created EQUALLY. "
And he also started a movement that has turned into something he would not have wanted, and that is an anti-white movement. It's basically reverse racism nowadays.
