In pre-history, a fleshy body was viewed as sexy because it showed off to potential mates the hunting/gathering success of it's owner. Therefore, the mate thought that it too would find good fortunes with that person. Today, it's a sign of personal neglect.

No, actually quite the opposite is true. Carrying your weight in you abdomen is the worst place to carry it. Fat cells here have receptors to stress hormones and cortisol. Receptors are like docks and the hormones are like boats that attach to them. This can have negative effects on your health. Excercise and eating sensibly are very important to be healthy.

No, having a large stomach has been linked to having a greater likelihood of developing heart disease. It does not mean good health, just a good appetite. :)
