I was wondering, how do you measure precipitation in inches from snow? Like if you got 3 inches of snow, how many inches of rain is it?

10 to 1 for snow to water is a decent ballpark. So 3 inches of snow would be ~0.3" of precip.

I think gunner is the winner. I'm pretty sure they melt it down for water content to add to yearly rain totals.

depends on how dense the snow is. you must now the volume of melted snow.
