I was flying, getting ready to land-- my instructor & I were in the pattern & had radioed our position, since we were at a small airport with no control tower. Suddenly another plane was just coming straight toward our side- I could see the guy! He had NOT radioed his position, and was cutting across the pattern....
We slammed it to full power, yanked back on the yoke & went up, very quickly. The other plane went right under us.
There was no time for my life to flash before my eyes!

It was when I had one of my first severe asthma attacks -- I had no clue what was going on and really hit rock bottom. Thought I was going to die because I kept having attacks and it wasn't getting better. I was literally terrified to sleep because I was so scared I'd have an attack and die in the night. I probably slept 2 hours per night for about a week, was sent to the hospital twice because the asthma wasn't getting better... The fear really took over and I ended up seeing the psychologist at school because I was so desperate to move past the fear.

I luckily haven't reached that point since that incident. Now I'm more knowledgeable about my asthma and understand how to manage it.

A really bad asthma attack. My lungs locked up and I could not get any air in or out. I passed away in the back of the ambulance and they had to shock me several times. I was on life support for a week and cannot remember a whole week of my life.
My greatest fear now is not being able to breath.

Unfortunately, I've had a few. Had a gun pulled on me three times (only shot once though), rolled a car over and fell out the door as it went over the top of me, fell three stories while framing a house (the boards slowed me down - no splat at the end!). I don't consider myself 'unlucky', I've just been through alot in my lifetime, so far.

Drowning.

Went body surfing with my brothers, got pulled out by undertow, couldn't get back to shore, started getting hypothermic, blacked out while grinding my way back to shore.

It was all very dramatic.

The worst part was that I knew my (then two year old) daughter would hear endless stories about how her stupid father got killed being stupid.
