What are some historical innacuracies in the text?

Well, the character Pangloss is a pretty inaccurate takeoff on Leibnitz, and the visit to El Dorado is all fiction, as no such place exists.
Since Candide is a novel and a satire, much of what it does is exaggerate actual situations in the 18th century to make the author's points. Being accurate was not a real consideration for Voltaire in Candide. The main character, Candide, is most likely the inspiration for the contemporary Forrest Gump, and googling {Candide +"forrest gump"} will provide some useful links on that theme.
