Till the child turns 18
or until the child is 21 if they are going to college

Well, that depends. If the child support starts when at the beginning of the child's life, it usually will last until they are 18. Or if it starts when any time during the child life, child support stops when the child turns 18. But there is the issue of back time. If say the parent paying child support switches jobs or does not work for awhile and so the child support stops... that goes towards child support back time. If the child turns 18 and the back time is not caught up, the money still keeps coming (supposably to the child). So actually, child support can keep going past the age of 18, but no new expenses are incurred once the child turns 18.

Oregon has very specific language about child support and college. What you need to find out is if your parent's divorce was an Oregon divorce or not. If it was then it probably contains language that support will continue as long as you are a "child attending school" or until you reach 21. So, if you go to college, support will continue. There are all sorts of new rules and cases regarding supporting a college age student in Oregon. You should have your mom have a consultation with an Oregon family law attorney to review your child support judgment and make sure. If it is an Oregon judgment you have certain requirements about how you need to notify your dad that you will be going to school.

Good luck.

18 is the magic number, but actually, it will be paid until the child graduates from HS. So, if you turn 18 in Jan. child support will run until the child graduates, provided they are still in school.

Child support does not continue through college. And, any man who agreed to that got swindled in the divorce. College is not a guarantee, and parents are not required to pay for college for their children.

Child support can last until the age of 18 years old. In some states, it could be different.

Until the child turns 18 unless...the child goes to college or the parent paying the support forfeits all of his/her rights to visitation with the child.

Depends on what is in the divorce papers...as long as the child is attending school...you should get child support until the child is 18 yrs old.
