Can anyone share facts/information on pre-Castro Cuba? Their economy, world ranking, socio-economic status then and how that gradually went changing.

Cuba was more or less run by American crime syndicates. They took control during Probation. In the short term, Castro was good for the people, but he let the country stagnate. The people are currently not much better off than before Castro. He will not be missed for very long.

Yes there was a mob influence in Cuba Pre Castro, but Cuba was far from Mob Controlled. There are many myths surrounnding this. The Economy was actually quite strong before Castro and was larger than many Western European Countries. There was a huge sugar industry as well as Tobacco, Tourism and export of other food stuffs throughout the Carribean.
The Gap between the haves and have nots was narrowed under Castro, NOW everyone is poor except for the Castro's and their cronies.

cuba was pretty much awesome before cuba. or so i'm told.
