It is different for different people. Some don't want you to be able to figure out that they had a child when they were but a child themselves. Others want to act or look younger than they really are. Some want to fit in with whatever group they are in, such as when most of the parents of a teenager are in their 40s, they don't want people to know that they are in their 30s or in their 50s - either too much younger or too much older than the other kids parents.

Parents lie about their age for mortality reasons. As we all age and grow older we feel life is passing us by. Many older adult are trying to keep up with this youth culture. Knowing we all will die.
