Oprah has turned into another Maury Povich.
I think that little boy should of slapped her.
And the mother should be protecting her son, not exposing him to the media for financial gain.

I'm torn because I'm so interested in this case, and I want to hear all the details. Yet Shawn looked so uncomfortable, and I'm just not sure he should have been on there. I felt better about the Ownbys, who refused to put their son on tv. Both of those boys -- but Shawn especially -- are going to have to deal with all kinds of cr*p, and this just seemed like us all gawking at the dead animal on the road. I don't know. . . it just made me sad, and kinda mad that I'm just as into it as everyone else.

I thought Oprah handled the interviews well, but now that the "sexual molestation" question has been said out loud it's going to be all over the news. Shawn's parents (and understand, I'm not blaming them, they're in over their heads with the media) told her that they are going to let him tell what he wants, when he wants to . . . yet they've gone on national tv and said they think he was sexually molested. Gee, what a devastating thing for a teenage boy to have to deal with, and then with his parents announcing it . . .I don't know. I guess deep down none of this Oprah interview feels right.

Nevertheless, I watched it. And I normally don't watch Oprah.

I thought she handled the interviews very well... my heart goes out to those kids. It's not going to be easy for them. Did you ever hear about the true story of Steven Stayner (there was a television movie called "I know my name is Steven"). He was kidnapped when he was 7 and didn't return home until his creepy kidnapper snatched another little boy, Timmy White. Steven decided to 'save' Timmy... but Steven's life was a mess even after he returned home. He got teased in school, he had a hard time fitting back in with his family... it's sad story. Anyway, I thought Oprah did a great job. She treated the boys and their family with dignity and respect. And how cool was it to see those two police officers?!

Very intense hour, and I was safe at home. I figure this attention is good in that it's preparing him for having to testify in court, and survive the defence and the media circus then, too.

If any talking head deserves to be slammed, it's Bill O'Reilly. If you missed his take on the story, here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0_CRFFEvIk

It was painful to watch ----- I am upset that his parents decided to expose him to Oprah's show ------ we all know she's the Queen of Feel Good but God, please let the boy have some time to adjust to his new world. I see a hard time ahead of him if he isn't left alone for the time being.

I think she is a fat obnoxious slob that tries to make herself look like a nice person, and in all reality she is just a loud mouth who takes advantage of women who have nothing to do all day but watch tv. All her cherity crap is tax deductable and she just keeps on making more money, from the idiots that watch her
