On Depo I gained 60lbs. My eating or exercising habits didn't change and when I got off of it and lost all the weight. So that tells me that it was the Depo that was causing me to gain weight. It is pretty widely know that Depo causes weight gain. I would avoid it like the plague!

I personally did not, but I have heard of some kinds causing you to gain a little weight but most of the weight gain was unnoticealbe unless you stepped on a scale. Me personally I have actually lost a little weight since I got on the pill and the only major change in myself I had was a more regular period and a larger bra size. But the results and the way it affects you will change from person to person and the type of birth control.

I have been taking them for 20 years, and I went off of them for 1 year. My weight has always been pretty much the same. Maybe 5 pounds difference. I think it all depends on your body. Sometimes the different hormone levels make you want to eat, or make you retain water, or store fat because your body thinks it's pregnant. I was lucky because I didn't gain any weight. My sister is the same, she never has gained weight from it either.

Yes. I tried the shot first (Depo-provera) and gained a lot of wieght, then I got off that one. I am now on the pill and did not actually gain weight on it. It all depends on the person, so if you are planing to get on birth control, it is just one of the symptoms that you might or might not get.

Yes, the pill with both progesterone and estrogen made me gain 10 pounds, without changing my diet or exercise plan at all, but I lost it all after I stopped and changed to the the progesterone- only pill. This pill has a higher risk than the pill with both hormones, though, so it depends what is important to you. If you are using a condom as well for STD protection, then the lower dosage pill should be fine, but you have to decide what is worse for you, a minor weight fluctuation or a baby.

I have been on almost 10 diff. types since I was 13 (to help my periods--didnt work) on all of them, I gained at least 5 pounds, which I have not sucessfully gotten rid of. The last one I was on made me gain a cup size every month (after the third month I couldnt handle it any more!) I think it has a lot to do with hormone levels and matabolism. Everybody is different.

I gained weight on the pill and on the patch. I also got pregnant on both ; ) The only thing that I have tried and maintained my weight without huge side effects is an IUD. They will usually only give it to you if you've already had a kid, but it gives minimal hormones and lasts 5-10 years.

Birth control has kept me from having a baby for 25 years.

Eating ding dongs and laying around watching TV made me gain weight.

I didn't, but I know people who have. Most of them gained about 5 lbs., but one of them gained about 25. It all depends on the type of pill and the person.

Yep.....................but having 2 kids made me gain even more
A few pounds is normal and is easier to deal with than an unplanned pregnancy. Some people don't gain any and some only gain it in the breast size.
