Hello All,
I am from Bangladesh and I salute the Asker to post such a nice and soothing question. Let us see how other countries in the world have made something similar possible, even though they have maintained their national identity distinct. These are ASEAN and EU.
We all know that there are currently 15 member countries of the "Schengen" group in Europe, so named after the Luxembourgian town where the original 7 country members of the group signed a treaty that removed internal border controls between their countries-thereby promoting free and easy access for its citizens to travel and conduct some forms of trade.
The current members are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.
What took the European Commission to come this far is also know to the readers of this message. My question is, are we the three countries and its leadership 'civilized' or 'educated' enough to have some common understanding to help ease tension?
India was a bit hesitant when SARC (later became SAARC) was launched in early 1980s. It is now about 25 years that we are talking economic cooperation among the SAARC countries. What is needed now is India's leading role like team-captain of SAARC to 'motivate' and 'lead' SAARC nations with 100% sincerity. I am sure that the stepping stone has already been laid and the time is not far away when we would have regional cooperation like ASEAN, if not Shengen countries of EU.
Now, the question is: who will bell the cat. In this case, the cat is firstly India and then Pakistan. Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives are waiting to see the Train move and start its journey.
Thanks again for thinking positive and suggesting to build confidence among nations, rather than posing irritating questions to divide us further and then apportion the blame on to the British or on hidden enemies for all the ills.
Best of Luck!!

Let us not blame the Brits if we were so gullible to allow them to divide and rule us. Why then ...even now we as a community in the Indian subcontinent have not united and learnt to live as one. Take India and it has its share of problems with all this division. We are all young countries who are just beginning ot learn to stand on our two feet. Some have done better than others.
Under the circumstances, I don't think its a good idea to think of uniting all three countries once again. There is enough chaos. If uniting has to take place at any place let it start with the Indian community in the US. For after the Jews we form the second biggest community and that can go a long way in getting favourable decisions for us back home.
If only we could set our petty regional differences aside and also our religious differences aside and get along as human beings, we have it in us (albeit as separate countries) to make this region a super power.

I m Indian and for yr kind information, Pakistan was formed for Muslims and India for rest of others. It is not only British but our own people like Nehru and Jinnah also wanted the same. People of any of these countries mingle around very freely but what would happen to the politicians in that case besides what would happen to the fanatic religious heads who leave no stone unturned to propagate regionalism, religionism, castism, classism etc. for their vested interests. Good idea for the people led by bad people.

My parents are from India, and I'm first generation in America. I wrote a thesis paper on this subject. First off, I want to know your position on Gandhi, he and his blood are technically the reason behind the tensions in South Asia today. If these countries do reunite they should under a common banner of India, but should return to self governed states, which contain different majority/minorities of religion. This will cause minor tensions, but in turn, the amount of terrorism will significantly decrease. Oh and hey Britain thanks so much, you managed to screw up about 3 different parts of the world with your seperatist bull****.

Dear Big Brother, I'm from India. I believe that the time for creating nations had gone. Well if we have such a broad mind, sure we can make it much wider to accommodate the world into one nation.

This is not at all a feasible idea.
Who will agree now even if 1 country wishes to reunite
Pak will never come to india and even if it does it will have some background strategy which is to ruin india in oneway or the other
and banglas they will be happy they shud be happy because their economical condition will imprve greatly and also they wil have new opurtunities in india
keeping all this aside lets think what is the position of INDIA after this after they unite
INDIA growth will start to fall the finance ministers current dreams will fade away
when we reunite pak will someway flirt with this and ruin the current image of the nation

Maan, I am Indian. Let it remain the way it is now. Let everybody live in peace rather than pieces. Your suggestion is not an answer to anything, but a problem for everything.
