I was wondering if this landlord is doing illegal "STEERING" or if this is still steering.

We live in their apartmens already. But when our 2 year old knew how to jump tthe office sent us letters. And than they asked us if we wanted to move somewhere else in their building.
is this still called "steering" cause steering is illegal. And i wanted to know morei nformation on this "steering" stuff that landlords are not aloud to do.

it is illegal to tell someone to live downstairs because of kids, thats called "steering",illegal. And u cannot really do anything about a 2 year old jumping.u cannot sopank them, yell at them for jumping or running.Yes people deserve to have not that much noise. But we live in family complex, so theirs gonna have lots of noise.

I am not sure what Steering is, but I used to manage some apartments. I do know that if your child jumping is causing other tenants not to be able to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere, they could eventually write you up for disturbances and it could possibly lead to eviction. All tenants have the right to peaceful enjoyment of their living space. If you live upstairs, this can cause tremendous noise downstairs. I have lived in both and would recommend anyone with small children live downstairs because of this problem. Children will be children. The only other solution I see would be only to allow your child to jump outside.

This is just my opinion of what I have read. There were not a lot of details given, so I could be totally wrong about the situation. If so, I am sorry. But with the information given, this is what I think.

No such thing as "steering". They probably got complaints about noise from your 2-year old jumper and simply offered you the opportunity to move to a ground floor unit where the noise wouldn't bother anyone below. You should feel fortunate - if the complaints persisted, they could have kicked you out instead.
