I dont think the world will ever be peaceful like most of us imagine it. The UN and powerful countries dont really care about whats going on around the world unless it affects them in a way. If they dont come out with something, they wont help for the simple reason of good will.
Also with the population expanding, more problems are probably going to spread out.

To whoever says "outlaw all religion" or something along those lines, that is the absolute most ridiculous, ignorant, stupid thing I have ever heard. Do you think that by making religion illegal, that will stop all wars?!!?!?! Think again my friends, think again.
The way I look at it, there's been pretty much only one way to achieve world peace in the past: rule by an empire with a tyrant. Oh sure, there was "world peace" at the time of the Roman Empire, but I don't think we want that again.
Therefore, I really don't think it is at all possible, no. I don't care what you say about how religion causes all wars, that is utter and complete nonsense if you really knew what you were talking about. Yes, religion is involved in many wars but I think man's evil nature is more to blame.
I MEAN REALLY.
God bless you all, I love you all even though I hate your ideas.

I believe world peace would be possible if people learned to follow the basic teachings many if not all world religions, to follow the golden rule:
Treat others as you would like them to treat you. Or: Love your neighbour, even if you don't agree.
It is sadd that there are so many who claim the be "followers", but don't walk the walk.
That is not restricted to "Christians" by the way. Many "religions" teach as Jesus did that compassion AND forgiveness toward ALL others is the straight and narrow path for us to follow. But He also said that few will follow it.
Could you immagine, if all Jews, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sihks, Hindus and others, who all have been given the teachings of compassion and forgiveness toward the "other", would live up to that? There would be peace on earth!!

If 95% of the world's population began simultaneously thinking peaceful thoughts, and began THINKING about the consequences of their actions (as in "hhhmmm, will this HURT someone? If yes, I won't do it")~ then there is a great possibility to a YES for your question.
But since TOO many people have negative violent thoughts, throwing in a good dose of selfishness and ignorance~ then the answer VERY SADLY is NO.

According to my Bible, no..........
I do believe end times are very close. It is written in the Word. In other words, I do not think world peace is possible and furthermore, I'm sure that no leader (dem or repub) is capable in this point and time to bring peace throughout the country..
There is too much hate and discontent and everything is in such disarray...

Only through world war and one side winning and eliminating opposition is this possible. A little dissention is a good thing if you don't like that scenario.

Not in our lifetime!!! Not never!!!! Was there world peace free of wars in the biblical days? Of course not...As a matter of fact, God glorified war, and he even blessed the Israelites to kill as many as they could.
