Don't think so too.
But boy often took longer to learn how to walk.
My daughter start walking at 11 month.
My son close to 12 month.

Just my experience. My cousin was a very fat baby. She NEVER crawled, and didn't begin to walk until she was around two. She had to be carried everywhere. She wasn't just chubby mind you, she was very very overweight. I have a chubby neice and nephew, and they were both crawling by about 8 months. My son is long and skinny, and he was crawling by 6 months. He wasn't just doing that "army crawl" any more, he was really crawling. Now my daughter, who is 7 1/2 months and also long and skinny is JUST starting to get the hang of crawling. So, I'm thinking that it just depends on the baby and not really how large they are.

My very chubby baby boy walked at 10 months... however he didn't crawl until the day after he walked.
I am sure that some fat babies are slower than some skinny babies. However I know one perfectly average build child who at 8 months only barely sits for 1 minute and doesn't crawl or do anything like that.

No way. First of all Fatter babies are generally healthier babies. Usually a baby is thin if it is fed Formula. Ask any pediatritian and they will tell you that they can tell a breatfed baby from a formula fed baby just by looking at them. All three of my children were Fat babies, and Breastfed babies.
My daughter was 90 % for her age at all times, extremly Chubby and had Huge thunder thighs, yet she began walking at 9 months!
My 2 sons were very Fat and walked at 10 and 11 months. So no truth to that at all.

I have seen it in a few places here an there, but I don't really think it is true. I think EVERY kid is different and doesn't have a thing to do with weight or gender. Both my boys were little hefty hideaways, and one walked at 9 months and the other one a little over 10. I did notice that they were quite the jumpers though. I always thought maybe that built up their leg muscles, but who knows. I also heard your first walks earlier than the second, and so on. But again, i really think it depends on the motivation of your child!!! SOme may be content just hanging out, while others are up and at it in a flash!

I think so. My first born was 10 lbs when he came into this world. He was always a big boy as a baby - very stocky, muscular. He didn't walk until he was over a year old. Rolled over, scooted, crawled on time - but for walking, he just couldn't pull his body weight up very well.
My 2nd born was 7 lbs when she was born, but she was always a wispy small boned little girl. She walked at 7 mos - she weighed under 20 lbs and never crawled. Just got up one day and started running! I think it's because she had nothing holding her down.

It wasn't true for mine. I had a plump baby and a smaller baby and it took them about the same amount of time to learn to crawl. It just depends on your baby..when they get ready. Weight doesn't really have anything to do with it. My chubby baby actually started walking before my smaller baby did. My son, the chubby one started walking at 9mos. My daughter(smaller)started walking at 12mos. Hope this helps...

that is only true is the baby is very overweight. babies will develope their muscles proportionally to their weight. chubby babies can walk just as soon as the skinny ones!
