I have this reoccurring dream where I am starting to float off the ground, as I get higher, the more terrifying it gets, eventually I will be floating what feels like about a mile above a big city with no people, then I wake up, scared to death(almost), what does it mean?

I feel like I may never quit floating upwards, like I will float off the planet. No I'm not afraid of heights.

Don't get upset about dreams. Dreams and even the night mares are just dreams. The mind takes what you know and then takes what the mind deems plausible and you can have some very fantastic experiences.

I had nightmares when quite young because of seeing a murder and no one seemed to understand so I finally had to force myself to face them and I found that I can do what ever I want with them. It does take some practice but it is not difficult to turn a bad dream into a good one.

Yes i could fly as well. Most of us have those dreams. Enjoy them and have a lot of fun pretending you are superman or woman. Don't worry you are not going to crash land in your bed.

I still have nightmares from time to time and when they wake me I think about them and change them and when I fall asleep again the dream does finish on a good note. If you are falling then remember you can fly so there is no problem.

No it is just a dream and not any different than what most of us have. Enjoy them and have a good nights sleep.

A fear of leaving other and things that are farmilliar to you, to venture onto unknown ground with no means of support or logical reason for which you'd be floating high in the sky and anxiety at any moment you could be let go.
Fear of loss of security, or mythical things becoming real. If you're anxious about something that could be causing the dreams or it can be a premonition that you are being cast from the "social circle" of friends and family. Get in touch with the people close to you I'd say, re-tether yourself down :)

I'm sorry that you are experiencing this as a nightmare. I have a history of this type of dream. Some of them I called 'flying dreams'. Others I called 'height' dreams. Eventually I learned to let go. This was a very important phase. By letting go and not dreading them it seems that they gradually became more balanced as well as diverse, interesting and instructive.

I think they are showing the heights, the limits of the psyche and possibly some other dimension to the Self that is beyond the boundary of the body. So at certain heights one can feel that the ground or foundation that one has gotten used to has been yanked out from under you. There might be some changes in your life or education that are causing this feeling. But this can lead to necessary and quite desirable changes in your personality or way of being.

You can try to find things that really ground you in a positive and nurturing way - at home, at work, at school, in relationships. But at the same time, try not to fear these test or limits of the conscious self. Try to let go and not fear them. A limit will be reached and if you allow that limit to be reached, probably the dreams will right themselves.

These dreams can help to broaden your perspective of the inner self that wants to expand. At the same time, be sure that you are not clinging too much to cherished ideas or narrow thinking and habits in waking life. This will cause your inner soul to want to expand too quickly. If this happens in a dream it will appear like a nightmare instead of an adventure. But even then, I do believe these dreams will find some balance in time.

So perhaps the strategy should be to broaden your perspectives during the day. And at night try not to fear the vertigo. Trust that it will right itself. It will balance out.

The world right now is rapidly changing its perspectives because of the media and such like. Everything is changing so that the social ground seems to be being pulled out from under us. We have to get used to the shifting ground. Well, the soul will feel this strongly. At times it will feel unmoored, unanchored. But that is part of it; part of the nature of all social change.

We do have a spiritual dimension to us. And these dreams are one way to explore and feel that spiritual dimension. Oddly enough, if you embrace those tests of height (and depth!) you end up feeling mysteriously stronger. It's like that when you meet any type of challenge. This is just a spiritual challenge on the plane of the soul, for want of a better term. There is definitely something to be felt and learned from these dreams where limits are tested.

I hope they will convert to something that surprises you in a good and interesting way. Do try to relax and perhaps cultivate a spirit of adventure as your perspectives - all perspectives - change. It will take time for new ground and a more reassuring perspective to form again. All these things go in cycles. You will learn when something is too high or too low, but to learn you have to explore. It seems your soul wants to explore and gain a higher overview. Give it the backing it needs and the terror might lesson.

We all have nightmares and dreams but some of us are unconscious about them 96% percent of the time. The other 4% well, we get lucky and remember some parts. The dreams that we are unconscious about repeat often and when we are suddenly aware of the dream our mind now has a memory of it therefore everytime the dream occurs we are conscious to it, and like many dreams actually repeat we don't know of them because we weren't paying attention to them. Don't worry, it's almost like shooting the duck flying across the screen that you never saw before until now... (metaphor from duck hunt) It's was always there, you just had to look.

You feel that you are slowly moving away from the stable ground. As you continue with what you are doing you are distancing yourself from stability and that terrifies you.
You manage to get a good distance from the stability and you don't see anyone else.

I think that what ever is happening in your life makes you feel like you are unstable. You also fear being this because you are afraid that you will be alone when all is said and done.

Is it the height that scares you awake or the fact you're alone?

Perhaps it's indicative of a fear of losing control... and that there will be no-one there to catch you should you fall. Try relaxing into it next time and you may feel different when you wake up. The dream may also continue if you don't scare yourself out of it.

floating often appears in dreams where the dreamer is getting close to someone of the opposite sex and some aspect of sexual feeling is present; an experience of awareness expanding beyond the usual boundaries of the persons beliefs or of their physical senses.

3 possibilities, 1st if you masturbate right before you sleep, it will give you crazy reoccurring dreams, 2ND, if you have haven't peed before you slept then you will also have dreams, a remedy to this is if you pee in a bottle and store the bottle on a night stand next to your bed you will dream of swimming(which is not in the air) 3rd, but most likely is that you have an illness, its called Eslymenia, a sleep disorder in which the sleeper dreams of strange objects that typically involve bestiality.
