I am an 18 year old male who started running a couple of months ago. For this past month, I have had shooting pains in leg (particularly in my ankle), after I run. I take a multi-vitamin everyday, I have aasics gel running shoes and I only run for a mile on a track 3 times a week. The pain is only in my right leg. Why do I get these shooting pains in my right ankle?

I would first look at the footwear. Does it have a good spring and give you the suspension that you need?

Second I would look at your running technique. It's good not to stamp your feet into the ground when you run. Have a quick release once your foot has touched the floor.

Third look at your warm up,cool down and stretching techniques.

All the best

try this stretch place the bottom of your foot up against a wall or other solid object and lean into the wall it will look like your foot is parallel to the wall this should stretch that muscle out some also try to do some ankle rotations before and after you run if the problem continues try to concentrate on how you land on your ankle when you run you want to run heel to toe not flat footed.
