Instead of focusing on blacks being slaves and 3/5 of a man based on history....look further (Moors, early civilization, and Egyptian history just to name a FEW). Why then is it that when one black American does something ignorant...all black Americans are categorized? If that is the "American" standard then...(i.e. all Caucasions are sociopaths, and all Hispanics are illegal). Is it fair?

The answer is the same even if you turn the tables and ask about whites when one white does soemthing annoying.
If blacks in US magically got their proportion of the wealth i do suspect that despite some residual racism existing, the problem would go away. Generally poor people stay poor and rich people stay rich even tho the society has mechanisms for a few to cross the wealth barrier.

No, no stereotypes are ever fair. The people who do the categorize the entire race for that one reason is just as ignorant as the person who did the bad deed in the first place

no I don't find that fair at all sista, but people are still going to target us no matter if some of us blacks are hard-working, caring, loving, generous, God-fearing or doing wrong...either way, we will still be hated by most and there is nothing we can do to change people's perspective. We as a people must continue to rise above that and not return the prejudice to others.

that mentality of light skin being better than dark was there since slavery times and continued to be passed down and even look at the media. all the black women we see as beautiful are all light skinned or have white features: beyonce, halle berry, etc. we need to learn to love ourselves black people and stop believing the hype. we're beautiful.
