I think you should stay calm,he's already said he likes your friend.Being all excitable and keen around him makes you act in a way you wouldn't normally and this tends to push guys further away rather than make them want to be with you.I think you should be casual and friendly (but not overly so) around him,give him the opportunity to see what a great person you are in your own right.Be yourself (your rational calm self) and don't make a big issue of wanting to be his girlfriend. Take the time to also study him,good looks would be a nightmare if it was the only quality you could find appealing in a potential boyfriend,look for other things you have in common like a sense of humour,personality,taste in music,values and shared ideas etc .You cant make someone want to be your boyfriend,but having a friend who has the same likes and dislikes as you do is important too , so start there and see what happens.
