Gettysburg address was a message to all americans but was not necessarily a plea for freedom amongst slaves. But the I Have a dream speech was a plea for equality of all men.

Abraham Lincoln did not have an interest in setting slaves free. He stated this many times over. He stated that SOUTHERN slaves were to be set free in the immancipation proclamation as a military tactic to break the South. A couple Northern states still had slaves for a year or so after the war ended. Union General Sherman said that if it had been a war over slavery he would have fought for the South because he owned saves himself. Lincoln had discussed plans at one time to ship all africans out of this country once the war was over because he felt they were not worthy of living here. Yall may not like hearing all this but its the truth. The real truth not the political correct truth.

Huh? The difference is they are two distinctly different speeches, however this smacks of a homework question so guess what? YOU have to read them and make your own comparison, or figure out what the teacher wants.

There's plenty of differences, but here's one similarity: both speeches changed America. Read them and read about the effect they had on Americans and you'll see what I mean.
