3x/6 + 4 = 6x/6 - 6

I used a equation calculator to solve this but it didn't show the process

the answer it gave was x=20

This is the last problem of 50 and the only one I'm not sure of
If 20 is the answer how do I get it?

Again thanks for the help with this one and the two story problems from earlier

First: (only when you have fractions with an equal sign) eliminate the parenthesis > multiply the denominator by everything...

(6)(3x/6) + (6)(4) = (6)(6x/6) - (6)(6)

Sec: cross cancel "like" terms & combine the remaining terms...

3x + (6)(4) = 6x - (6)(6)
3x + 24 = 6x - 36

*Subtract 24 from both sides...

3x + 24 - 24 = 6x - 36 - 24
3x = 6x - 60

*Add 60 to both sides...

3x - 6x = 6x - 6x - 60
-3x = - 60

Third: solve for "x" by isolating it on one side > divide both sides by - 3...

-3x/-3 = -60/-3
x = 20

Multiply each component of the equation by 6 to get 3x + 24 = 6x - 36. Then combine the variable on one side of the equation and the numerals on the other to get 3x = 60. Solve this to get x = 20. Now you are done your homework. Congrats.

Multiply everything by 6, to get rid of the fraction
3x + 24 = 6x - 36
24 = 3x - 36
60 = 3x
20 = x

it's simple:

3x/6 + 4 = 6x/6 - 6

3x/6 + 10 = 6x/6

10 = 6x/6 -3x/6 = (6x-3x)/6
60 = 3x

x = 20

3x/6-6x/6=-6-4
(3x-6x)/6=-10
-3x/6=-10
-3x/6 can be simplified as -x/2 (divide 6 by 3)
-x/2=-10
multiply both sides by -1
x/2=10
multiply both sides by 2
x=20
