Strats are made in one other country (Mexico, I think but not sure). If Mexico, then "Mexico" is written somewhere on the neck. If American, nothing will be written. The American models are usually more expensive. I'm not sure whether the quality differs between the two.

The majority of Fender Stratocasters are made in the USA at the Fender plant in Corona, California or in the Ensenada, Mexico plant, which is only a few miles south of Corona.

The USA Strats are usually the highest in quality, as they use the better components. However, the Mexican Strats are no slouches either. There are some limited edition Stratocasters made in Korea.

Fender used to make their lower end models in Japan before switching to Mexico. There are still Stratocasters made in Japan under Fender license, but these are not available within the US.

Since the Ensenada and Corona plants are so close, Fender regularly ships parts back and forth between the two. In fact, all Strat necks, whether they are meant for a Mexican or American made model, are manufactured in Corona.

There are some mid-priced models (the Highway 1 series, specifically) that are made from US components, sent down to Ensenada for finishing (lower environmental restrictions = lower cost) and then shipped back up to Corona for final assembly.

If your looking for quality your best bet is to buy an american made guitar. The factories in mexico have no quality line. Which means they dont have a group of people who look for defaults that the factory mightve made. The American made guitars have a quality line at the factory and have just better quality gear. What you should do is make sure you spend more than 500$ on your guitar because thatll make sure that your guitars been through a quality line and that it has quality gear inside of it.

Well they do now. They used to be a true American made guitar, now they are japanese or chinese..No racism intended..Even Gibson are made in different countries now, it is getting pretty sad how many products come from out of the USA. Even Harley Davidsons aren't all American made anymore....
