Why do people join gangs?Why cant police get rid of them?

Simply because gangs tend to provide them with the "love" and "support" their families failed to provide them. It gives them a warped sense of belonging, and enriches low self esteem, as there is strength in numbers. Until parents actually parent and society learns to place more emphasis in a person's self worth as opposed to the amount of bling aquired, you'll continue to see a manifestation of gangs in communities.

Many times the gang becomes their family. Very few gang members come from good homes.
Getting rid of them is a problem because they can look just like everyone else. Also they are often in neighborhoods where people do not cooperate with police.

Because we want to feel like we got a family, we want to feel tough. The gangsters always tell other kid that if you join a gang then you can get money, laid, and drugs. But evenually i guess you end up in jail or dead from the other side. The mexicans and blacks feel that they need to be tough so they join a gang.
My 3 brothers and father are gangsters and they pretend that the gang life is good. but really it makes it hard on me and my ma cause we have to watch our backs from other gang, that want my brothers and pa mad. So it sucks, but they just want more homies.
The gang are too big for the cop to take out. Some cops would be afraid if they saw a big gang together cause they won't have a problem with killing a f*cken cop. So, the cop backs off unless they have a group of cops to give them problems.
From growing up with gangsters, i want to warn you just don't worry about them and don't get them involve in your life. They are people that you shouldn't worry about. Just enjoy your life and don't talk about them. then they won't bug with u.

People join gangs for a sense of belonging, and brotherhood. Gangs are racially based. Our world is a big mash up of races, and gangs bring races together. Street gangs are for purpose of drug trading territory. The more people you have in your gang, the more money everybody in the gang will earn. It's simple economics. Police cannot get rid of gangs because places like los angeles are loaded with them.

In prison and jails, gangs are more active than anywhere. Gangs aer 100% racially seperated in jail. however, sometimes same race gangs will battle, such as Nortenos (northern california hispanics) fighting with the mexican mafia.

A desperate need by the individual to feel included would be the general answer. But often times it's for protection and self preservation. In many places if you don't have friends to be there for you, you may not survive. Literally. Groups get together to outnumber other groups, then local kids see those groups having fun, or watching eachothers back and they want to be part of it. They don't see the downside and the trap it can become.

Positive discrimination always wants to grow. We all want to belong to some social group or other. We do not want to get rid of all "gangs" just the criminal ones.

the police cannot get rid of them just for joining is why, because they have to actually break the law (e.g. violence shootings etc) before they can actually be arrested so if they are not doing this than they cannot be arrested, and they join to feel as if they belong, yah well belong when you are dead??? i dont think its a good idea

30+ years in the past, i became at school in England - i became on the fringe of going to Welbeck (protection stress college) and then Sandhurst (English version of West factor). yet I loved computers & writing software. I had a lengthy talk about it with defense force workers & the only concern that stood out - once you connect the military, you're a soldier first & maximum effective - 24X7X365. once you've any major pastimes, occupation military may no longer be the perfect guess. short provider Comission may fit. yet in my opinion, i might want to recommend LEO & save analyzing.

People join gangs to be gang-bang in jail each other in the butts.
They are considered hardcore gay people.

No one can't rid of gang-bangers, too many of them.

There has to be crime so the jails can keep operating, and the judges, and the correctional centers, so they allow enough for the gang bangers to either get killed, or incarcerated. The Government can stop whatever they want.
