This may seem like a silly question, but I've been very stressed lately and a little sick and I've missed my period for the first time since I was a teenager. I'm just wondering how many adult women this happens to and if I should be worried. My doctor did not seem concerned when I went to see him. If you are a woman, have you missed your period before for reasons other than pregnancy and for how long did you go without? Thanks.

No. I'm not pregnant. I've taken fifteen hpts, one doctor urine test and one blood test. All negative.

Nope. Only missed my periods when I was pregnant. Soon, however, I'll be missing them (or not) forever (I'm 40).

Yes, it is very normal for adult women to miss their periods for reasons other than pregnancy. Stress plays a huge part in our normal cycles. I have had irregular periods quite a few times and it is been during times of high stress. They can be regulated with birth control if you continue having irregular periods for an extended time frame. If things do not get back to normal within 90 days, I would consult a physician. If there is an immediate chance that you are pregnant, though, I would consult your doctor anyway. Try to take some calming measures and regulate your diet. Sudden changes in your weight can cause missed periods as well. Good luck!

It can happen. Being stressed can cause it to be delayed. Ive had it happen before....one whole month late. All due to stress. Or things can go the opposite way and get it early for the same reason....all sorts of things can make your hormones imbalanced. If you care concerned of pregnancy then take a home pregnancy test. Also birth control pills will usually regulate your cycle if thats an option for you.

I started missing periods when I was 15...2-3 mnts, a yr, 2 yrs at a time....polysistic ovary syndrome. I didn't have regular periods (without meds and please don't take provera...it put 100 lbs on me I can't get off...I shoulda had the hystrectomy at 20 when I was told to.) till I was in my 40's...I'm now 52 and have regular periods...(what a pain in the ***) and they have no idea when I will have menopause. ( my mother and grandmother had hystrectomies at early ages and now they're dead.) So I'm sorta stuck here....no hot flashes, but my body temp is 100 degrees all the time. I have regular periods and acne, that I didn't have as a teenager...(whhheeee)
I'd tell you to see a new Dr. (get a 2nd and 3rd opinion...)

It's supposedly pretty common under mental or physical stress. I've been stressed and been 2 weeks late before when I was younger, now, at 39, if I really under emotional stress, I'll start my period early.

stress will DEFINITELY mess up your period, and worrying about it will just make it worse. i'm on birth control and it still happens to me when i'm stressin. as for the bein sick part, you may just feel icky because your body isn't doing something that it's supposed to be doing. as for me, i got a pregnancy test (which was negative), and then went to the gynocologist. she changed my pills and i got straitened back out in no time.

some females get implantation bleeding, regardless of the indisputable fact that it really is actual uncommon. basically 3-5% of females actual get it. recognizing/bleeding (pink) may be an illustration that something is faulty with the being pregnant and also you opt for to search for suggestion out of your physician. females do not have genuine sessions at the same time as pregnant. The era is the laying off of the unfertilized egg and the liner of the uterus and neither of those happen at the same time as pregnant. regardless of the indisputable fact that, my grandmother bled the first 4 months with my mom and later with my uncle.
