deedeeinatl1's => in "the" others languages In the other languages it is logical to put some articles in a sentence. English is not my mother tongue and I make the effort to express me in your language. Sorry if I make some mistakes. And if you want to know why the French don't like your football It would be simpler to ask them.

Good question...tis true though, not many Americans like soccer.

But I'm American and I LOVE soccer!

Numerous reasons. It stems from being detached from the "old world." In the early years of this nation Americans were trying to separate themselves from Europe and developed its own sports. Later immigrants from Europe also were keen to adapt to US culture and shunned Euro sports for American ones as well. It also is a matter of taste. Americans tend to like high scoring. Consider the sports that are most popular in the US: Football, Basketball and Baseball. These all provide a lot more instant action (not so much baseball, but moreso than soccer) than soccer does. Soccer is continuous play but there is not much scoring. While I do think there is a market for soccer in America, it will never be as big as the sports that have developed in the country. It's a matter of taste and culture.

Why don't British people like American football. I'm sure some do. Your question, as usual, is generalized. I am an American and I happen to like soccer and play it very well. There goes your washed up theory.

I'm not sure. I guess we took some sports and changed them and it became popular. Such as baseball and football. I grew up in the US and grew up playing those sports so I never got into soccer. Though I do have some friends that play it and love it.

We invented a lot of our own sports. Why doesn't the rest of the world like American football as much as us?

Memo to Julian A: in my observation, the English and the Irish drink at least as much as Americans, so stick that in your pint and choke on it.

I've given a lot of thought about this. The only thing I could come up with is that they have short attention spams. NO OFFENSE. Most of the times i like the quickness of soccer but some other times i do prefer the stop and go of the nfl or mlb.

You do not have to add the article "the" every other word in English, please stop this annoying habit.
But to answer your question:
We have our own football and we like it , but we do not dislike soccer, it's just not as popular here. But I have a question for you:
Why don't the French like American football(Apply your answer to the question you just asked to yourself) See my point???

Because we have so many other sports that soccer just got lost in the shuffle.

Because American sports fans and players don't have the mental capacity to understand the greatest game in the world, soccer
