If the new unit is not jambed and the turntable turns freely you probably do have a power problem. With the motor humming you do not need to mess with the reset button as others have suggested because if the overload(reset button) were tripped there would be no hum.

Did you check whether the red overload button under the motor needs to be pushed? It sounds like a jam up. Did you also try taking that hex wrench that came with it and using that under the motor to try turning it to see if it is moving (with switch shut off of course)? If the old one used to run there and the new one is connected just like that there should be no power problem. If you are not sure take it out and connect it to another outlet and see if it runs there to eliminate any doubts about the power to it. Are you letting cold water run before and while you turn on the motor? Are you avoiding grinding cornstalks and lamb-leg bones that might overload it?

Everyone has mentioned the reset button but also there is a hex wrench that came with your disposal. Take the wrench and insert it on the bottom side of disposal and trun each way. Sometimes they get jammed.

No, it gained't. the perfect and sparkling way might want to be to disassemble the rubbish disposal, fairly the blade. so that you'll take all the cheery pits out. it gained't harm the blade. As you take advantage of the allen wrench to free the blade. The blade will bypass up, no longer taking position to press the cheery pits in any respect. once you fullyyt free the blade, you could bypass discover those cheery pits now.

Try the reset button that is located on the bottom side of the unit, its a little red button. If that does'nt work, stick a large scewdriver down inside to spin the blades, you might have to hit the screwdriver with a hammer, make sure the unit is off when doing this, then try to see if that helped
