What does the last sentence mean also?

this is for hw but these arent the hw questions i just have to say what i would add the the document if i were there but i dont know what they were saying so i dont know what to add

It states that the Colonies are totally independent from Britain and have their own right to raise taxes and declare war. The connection between Britain no longer exists.

The last sentence means that since they were risking their lives by doing this rebellion against Great britains king (TREASON) that they pledge their lives, honor and fortunes to do this.

I am not sure I can make it easier for you but I can point out that, throughout the Declaration, there is never a direct mention of God or a god rather there are invocations of a greater power. A power above their own to lend strength to their desires of freedom from British rule. How people interpret the terms "Supreme Judge" and "Divine Providence" is where the argument about the religiosity of our nation. No where can you find a desire by the founding fathers that Christianity be the foundation of the land. Rather you see a believe in a supreme being and the ability for people to choose their religion. You do not see them asking for Christ's blessing or the blessings of a particular church, you see them invoking the power of a supreme being. If you were to add anything at all, think along the lines of how you could enlarge the amount of freedom they demand. You could also consider making the statement that the paragraph does everything intended and is nearly perfectly written and should not be changed (remember, writing in the late 1700's was not the same as writing today!).

Find a steno pad (the notepads with a spiral at the top and a pink line down the middle....). Write each phrase on the left, re-write it in a simplified way on the right... then just read the right-hand side... maybe that will help you understand what they're talking about.

Another idea- ask your mom or dad to help- explain this paragraph to them, or try explaining it to your dog or a stuffed animal- like you're teaching them... I find it helpful to talk thorugh an imaginary explanation- it helps me understand the concepts behind what is said/written.

Basically, the writers of the document are appealing to God (the Supreme Jduge of the world) to justify their actions in separating from England... They feel that the Colonies should be free and independant, and their connection to Great Britain should be disolved...

As for the last sentance- "And for the support...." They're saying that with this declaration they're apealing to God (Divine Providence) and they're putting their lives, resources and reputations out there to uphold and defend the chance to be free.

We are shaking off our ties to England and are hoping that God, whose opinion, after all, is really what counts in moral matters, will agree with us in our decision. With that hope we declare ourselves no longer British colonies subject to British law, and join to create our own country that can do all of the things any country can do.

And in front of God, and trusting in God, we pledge on our honor that we will stand by each other and by this decision to make our new country.

The God term used for several of them was the 'natural' God and not necessarily a specific biblical God, which is why they use the more general terms for deity.

are these people trying to not see the divine providence part,?

it means the US is free from Britain and everyone else, and they will risk everything they have to defend it.
