Last night, viewers saw Goody refer to Shetty as "poppadom" later explaining she wanted to use an Indian name and the only word she could think of was an Indian food. Defending her comments, Jade said: "If it's offended any Indians out there I apologise." On Wednesday night, Goody told Lloyd and O'Meara that "fake" Shetty needed "a day in the slums" . She added: "Go in your community and go to all those people who look up to you and be real." Lloyd also said Shetty should just "go home" , adding: "She can't even speak English properly."

Goody, who became famous and earned an estimated £4m after her initial appearance on the non-celebrity version of Big Brother in 2002, now faces a battle to regain public sympathy.

There are signs that she will have an uphill struggle. Her perfume has been pulled from shelves and her book, due to come out in paperback isn't likely to sell well.

Is her 'career' over?

Good question. It depends on how she reacts to criticism when she comes out. If she is apologetic, remorseful and takes the line that she is not racist and/or that it was edited to show the worst, she might have a chance at redemption.

Personally I wonder whether she has the ability to do it - she could open her mouth and make it worse.

It's 5-1 against.

personally, i'd say goody is more thicker than the brown stuff that comes out of your bum (to be as polite and clean as possible here), I don't think she was being deliberately racist, just lack of brain cells or knoweldge. as for the other contestants accused of recist remarks, well i can not comment all i know is what has been reported on the news and in this question.
if they are guilty of racist remarks then strap them to an ICBM with a NUKE warhead and aim towards the sun then explode. it would do the world a favour.
as for the media reporting that the remarks of those idiots in the studio (house) represent the majority of the population, get real they are the minority not majority. or at least i hopoe they are.
and whats to say that C4 did not engineer that whole racist incident before the show was even aired on the first day. it is a ratings based money spinner for C4 so if they can get ratings by engineering this kind of crap why wouldnt they.

best thing we can all do as a nation is to boycot all the channels offered by channel four. better still simply send a group of trained monkeys in to c4s head office and replace the people responsible for bring BB to the tv screens. then burn down the BB set.
again all that pressuming that the remarks were made of own free will or engineered in a script by the producers of BB.
but to be honest why would anyone waste what little life we have watching a show like BB. what are they expecting to see?
all you would ever get is the boring mundane everyday tasks we all have to do, cooking, cleaning etc.
just my opinion.
and yes her career is most likely over in the short to mid term. i'd say that she will have to start being extremely froogle with what money she may have in the bank as i guess that will be her only income for a few years. i suggest that her bank charge her a huge interest rate for having the account and pay her no interest on her savings.
why is she classed as a celebrity anyway? she is in my opinion physically unatractive brainless and foul mouthed.
if that is celebrity i have a few neighbours that would qualify. she may have been in the house once years ago, but christ what is it with her. is her celebrity based solely on her being an ugly mouthy B****?
again based on what little i have seen of her. and trust me that little is a lot more than i ever wanted to see.
oh and why the F should we all give a crap about what mouthy jade said anyway. if the woman the racist remarks at does not want any further action taken or has not left in protest at the comments made why should we bother. yes goody was in the wrong to use the remarks she is reported to have made. but realy the young woman the remarks were ain=med at should simply have walked out the house, or better yet those who made the remarks should be removed.
if C4 have not broadcast the whole incident un edited as yet they should do for the BB fans. i'm talking a whole 24 hours before and 24 hours after non stop video interaction between goody and Shetty (as in the question above) as well as the other housemates. to get a true picture of events. remember it is c4s interest to edit the footage down to as much controversey as possible. and the editor should be applauded for his or her work editing this fiasco.

Who really cares about Jade's future career???? She may have
appeared to have 'made up' but this was most certainly contrived in an attempt to quell all of the media hype. However, the only thing that has come out of this is the 'pandora's box' that Jade and Shetty have opened up for everyone. It has brought to the fore the extreme problems that England are having to deal with regarding race relations.

No it's classic Jade. She represents the real Britain not the tinted one portrayed by the left-wing media moguls. The comment about the slums relates to class conflict which in India is much worse since they have a caste-system determined solely by birth. Gandhi was against this and lost his life because of it. Look who assassinated him. Anyway ....my British Indian friends aren't offended by being called a "poppadom", they think its quite funny.
Believe me they've heard much worse.

Her 'success' is a sad reflection upon our society. It beggars belief that a girl who appears to have no talent other than her abilility to 'mouth off', should have got this far in life. Shame on the public who put her there in the first place, it's within their power to bring her down as fast as she arose.

One has to question the motives of all the contestants within the BB household. A cynic would argue that they participate in order to promote themselves and that only a fool would go into such a situation without understanding the possible implications. Jade may pay the price but her claim to fame has been BB.

There is a big difference between freedom of speech and spewing racist comments.

I hope the UK is brave enough to give her a taste of her own medicine by not putting any more money in her pocket.

I never really thought very highly of Jade Goody, but at least she speaks her mind (feeble though it may be).
I believe every resident of the UK should have the right to say they think someone should go back to India or wherever. It's not a question of racism but one of free speech and our right to express our beliefs. Insightment of racial hatred however should not be tolerated.
