Criminals in custody don't have money and they can't buy condoms at least in California. Stupid because they have more sex in custody than out - and it is all with other men. If a state allows the purchase of condoms at taxpayer's expense then good - less HIV and AIDS to bring back home. You are being vindictive and it doesn't make sense. Your share of the condom cost will be .0003 cents per year. Are you not willing to give that to charity to save lives? Do you not know that all men with sentences more than one year have more sex - all the time - with other men than they could ever hope to have on the outside with women. When they get out they deny they would ever do that but - they do. It's a no brainer. The bodies are willing and why not? I can't think of one argument against it except that it is illegal and HIV can be rampant - but that is no longer a killer and it gets real lonely in there. Best solution is to bring in prostitutes. One cannot legislate anything in the sex area. Society takes care of the crime of molesting children as well it should. Otherwise, who cares what those adults do.

By the way, you are paying outrageous taxes to support illegal aliens in hospital, welfare, schools, roads, etc. Shouldn't that be your concern?

I am not sure that a criminals are getting condoms from us taxpayers. I think that we are in a sorry state that schools hand out condoms however.

Well, I look at it this way:

I pay the $7.00 for the box of condoms, or I pay the thousands for the treatment of STD the criminal gets from the sex they are going to have regardless of having the condom. I think paying for the condoms is cheaper in the long run. But that is just me.

They are ALOT cheaper than antiretrovirals which the taxpayers would be obligated to pay for after HIV spread through the prison system.
