I think we were more comfortable with the U.S. as a police state than we are with the U.S. trying to become a nation building state.

What do you mean, "a police state"? We have 12 Million people who snuck in here illegally walking around without fear of being detained, I see people constantly disregarding traffic laws in plain view of patrol cars, we have God only knows who many illegal drug users and we are free to rant and rave against the government all we want without fear of an repercussions. Read History, during WWII the Democrat President, Franklin D. Roosevelt rounded up and detained 110,000 U.S. citizens, now that sounds more like a police state to me.

this could be a elementary question whilst the state " tightens the screw" for rules and order. Who in country says so ( growing to be a police state)? people who prepare the properly suited reason at solutions or others out to make the days of the media ( which has to sell its stuff for a survival) ?

I come from abroad, and before I came here people often see the USA as the police of the world...you only have to look at certain activities to see why....

The world has depended on the USA to be a police state for many years. Has this not occurred to you?

not everyone does. due to the current state of world affairs ie: terrorism, our government has taken strong steps to assure our safety. many believe that freedom must be given up for safety, I think that there is a need for investigative freedom but I will never believe that the government should have a free hand with out over-site. many have and will die to give us our freedom. we should treasure it and never give it up. but just like you are not free to yell FIRE in a theater you do have to have rules.
