I was so heartbroken when the guy with the "big eyes" red shirt tried out last night and simon made fun of his looks. I almost cried and I think that the judges should be banned from making comments about a contestants outter appearance.

I will stop watching the show. My ethics override my desire to be entertained.

Simon went completely overboard. It was rude and ucalled for. Its one thing to dis someone about their singing, but its a whole nother thing when you talk about how that person looks, when you cant help it. My heart goes out to him.

You are so quick to blame the Judges for being rude. In actuality, when they get the contestants down to the top 24 and the general public starts voting them off, most of the voters are ruthless with their voting techniques. They will vote hundreds of times for someone that is not their favorite just to make sure that the one they don't like receives the least amount of votes and has to leave. This is a very public contest. Can you actually watch all of the auditions and say that these people genuinly want to be "The Next American Idol". Most of them audition so that they can have their 2 minutes of fame on TV. Even though this is a contest, it's reality and, the reality is that the one chosen won't be one wearing a patriotic costume or screeches out their song.

The Judges go too far every season in my opinion and it just seems like Simon is paid extra to be more and more "GOD" like each year. I do not see the point in humiliating anyone to the extent that he does and I don't think he realizes how damaging his comments are to peoples self-esteem or he doesn't give a sh** witch is horrible. I know a lot of people who have stopped watching the show because he is such an as**ole and that is so unfair to the hopeful contestants.

I think that Simon did go too far with the jungle creature comment. I asked this question earlier and everyone seemed to agree with the judges. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtBQy1Ic1.7SCBxQS4zV2wPsy6IX?qid=20070118110014AAgqoa8
I think that some people go on that show just to be on TV and be funny but other people truly believe that they can sink. The guy that you are talking about seemed like he really felt he had talent. I felt so bad for him. If they want to critique someones singing and dancing ability, fine- but they shouldn't be harshly rude and make mean comments about someones eyes. That kid couldn't help the way he looked. Simon didn't give him construvtive criticism because it isn't like the kid can go home and change the way his eyes look. IMHO Simon was downright rude and acted like a bully.

they just acting like they did when they were kids they were the ones picked or bullied when they were kids. An so its Randy , Paula , and Simon them turn to make fun of the nerdines that they were. They are just venting at ppl cus they were made fun of when they were kids. That is how our world is abusive and sinnful ok we just have to deal with and either run an hide and cry or just defend ourselves when disrespected . Don't let ppl walk all over u Paula Abdul is alcoholic and Randy is lonley fat producer and simon is lonely untalented brit whom wears the same jeans everytime he's on tv. Glad tosee he changed Tshirts this season

think of it this way... if they let every single "charity case" through, what sort of soul-crushing disappointment would be waiting for them in the next stage? What would the gossip rags write about the guy? They are doing that guy a favor just allowing them to compete. It isn't a show to let every idiot with a voicebox and lungs go to hollywood. People seem to think because they showed up they are OWED something. You have to earn it. That guy first of all didn't practice his craft, didn't dress right, didn't even lose gracefully. So he sucked, and deserved what he got. It is a combination of talent, appearance, and discipline, which I did not see in either bush baby or his large friend.

It's a TV show!
It's all staged with multiple takes and a script.
That dude with the eyes is now famous--you think he minded Simon making fun of his looks?
No one would watch it if they were nice to people.

That is so true...They are there to judge singing and stage presents not wardrobe and features. They made fun of several other people as well, many of them they made fun of after they left the room, but I am pretty sure they may have caught the show and that would be very embarrassing if it were me.

i think so. It's about SINGING. Not how good your hair and makeup is today. If all the men in the world was like simon i would die killing the last one. (hehe okay a little over-dramatic- but simon is the ultamet shallow-hall)
