I'm nursing my newborn. My grandmother told me to be sure to dry up my milk when I finish nursing him, or else it will go to my legs? What does she mean by this?

This is certainly not a wive tale i worked in a Health care facility and it is not a wives tale it's called "Milk legs" the milk absorbs into diffrent parts of your body and eventully will dry up. This is generally occurs to women who do not breast feed and have a surplus of milk. Hope this is helpful.

This would fall into the category of "old wives tale." Any unused milk will simply be reabsorbed by your body, processed by liver and kidneys, and excreted.

Some old wives tale that you'll end up with fat legs, so not true.

...maybe she knew somebody who didn't dry up quickly and retained some water (puffy ankles) for a while...still, it's temporary.
Hey! Congratulations, mommy! ;-)
