what are some good conversation starters
when theres an awkward silence , when
your talking to a guy or just to break the ice ?

It really depends on your age. For me, the following two have helped me enormously.
1) Any plan for the weekend? Or how was your weekend?
2) The weather is.... It reminds me ( a vacation you have taken or a place you have been to).
If the other person does not refuse to talk, you can usually get a live conversation going on about hobbies, favorite vacations, places both of you have been to, food you like, restaurants around, etc, basically the happy moments of your and his lives.
Other subjects I have used are:
3) The reality shows ( seems everyone is watching them. If you don't, you better at least read some about them)
4) Current movies
If you are a sports fan, you can always talk about the upcoming or recent sport event, programs.
However, if you meet someone who just doesn't want to talk, no subject will break the ice!!

You can ask him if he has any plans for a vacation coming up, what's his favorite type of music, if he has any brothers or sisters...
Just think of something that he can talk about where you can look for something in common with him. Don't ask yes or no questions.

Tell him that this reminds you of the time you did four men at one time and knocked them out in a post sex coma. That should get his attention.

how about airplanes, the sky, his favorite food, favorite place to hang out, cars, trains, anything under the sky

Give them a compliment. People will love you when you give them compliments, but not too much.

compliments always work or just pretty much just ask how they did on something recent they did
