Only one sperm can actually fertilize the egg -- but generally it takes a couple of hundred "helper" sperm to help the lucky sperm burrow its way to the egg. And seeing how there are millions of sperm released in full ejaculation, that isn't difficult to come by.

It only takes one viable sperm that can make it to the egg and eat it's way to the center, to fertilize the egg and make a zygote that becomes an embryo and then becomes a fetus .

Just the one that gets into the egg... :) (It takes one egg and one sperm to make a baby). Although in some very rare cases 2 eggs have fused to make an embryo...
