O'Reilly's an idot. He's just shilling for ratings. Fox PROMOTES that kind of behavior. They don't fire people for it.

Crap, if he was fired for that.... everyone in News would have to be fired sooner or later. I am a O'Reilly fan, but I think he really was dead wrong on this one. I don't know what he was thinking because usually he is right on. I have to believe if he gave it any thought after words he had to think, "that was a stupid thing to say." But, since this poor boy has been found I have heard all kinds of stupid things said. Naturally we have to find fault with what a 11year old kidnapped kid did or didn't do. Come on people get a clue.
How about just being happy this boy is alive and well. He did nothing wrong.
PS Now I'm reading what Queen said O'Reilly said and that sounds more like it. I was having a hard time believing a smart man like Bill would say something so stupid.

He should of been fired long ago but just like Rosie O'Donnell he brings in the rating & the network keeps 'em!
Not right not fair but that is what happens all to often in this world.
The really sad thing is that Michael Devlin will probably get less time in prison/jail than he kept Shawn captive.
It happened with the Steven Staynard deal.
He was kept for 7 years his offender got 5 years.
And later was arrested again at 71 y/o while attempting to buy another kid thru his home health nurse.
What a B@stard!
Stephen had a hard life before it ended tragically when he was in his 20's & was in a motorcycle accident.
What really erks me is even though Shawn Hornsbeck was kidnapped in 2002 & held until 2007 some BS law will NOT apply to his case because it came in to effect AFTER the initial kidnapping.
Therefore his Hornbeck charge may not be but 5 years but the Owenby case can get 30 to life.
While I think he should get time for both kidnappings what I DO NOT understand is WHY this law does not apply to Shawn Hornbeck's case?
The law came in to effect while he was STILL being kidnapped.
This sure seems to be a miscarriage of justice to me!
Sorry I got off subject...I do not watch O'Reilly he is a pompus @ss!
A lot of things is not making sense about the kidnapping but blaming an 11 year old boy is way out of line!
No one knows what those kids went tthru nor is it our business to know really.
I think the kid has a hard enough row to hoe w/o O'Reilly's remarks!!!!!!!

I can't believe he said that. No one knows the reasons why Shawn Hornbeck never left....Who knows what Devlin told him????
How can O'Reilly judge him???? He was 11, just a child, when he was taken. I hope that Shawn takes whatever he hears or reads of other people's opinions with a grain of salt and remember they are only 'opinions'.
Atleast he is at home with people who love him unconditionally.
As for 'my' opinion (lol) I never have liked O'Reilly. He should be canned. But then again if they canned him, I'm sure someone worse would come along.
Steven Stayner died in a traffic accident. He never commited suicide. With his story, it seems (again my opinion) that the person who suffered the most was his brother Cary and his entire family. He became a serial killer later killing 4 women in Yosemite National Park. He stated that all the focus was on Steven and he felt left out and this was his way of getting attention....I'm sure I'm paraphrasng. The link has a story about Cary on it.

properly its a nasty determination of words, yet some human beings like invoice O'Reilly can make comments like that, the position as, human beings (Michael Richards, "canines" the bounty hunter, the female from the golfing channel, and Don Imus) can't. If there is adequate stress, he will make a 1/2 hearted apology and which will be that. i imagine maximum individuals understand who and what he's.

I didn't see this broadcast, but I know O'Reilly is really getting dinged for a number of comments on this case.
You have to realize something: The bottom line for Bill O'Reilly IS the entertainment factor. The more controversial, confrontational, or adversarial a tv personality can be, the higher the ratings.
He isn't about being politicially correct, or even about solving the world's problems. (The latter is what he wants you to think.) It is about saying or doing whatever it takes to make you tune back in night after night after night....even if it takes making you mad to do it.
Right doesn't make might, but hype can say pretty much any durn thing it wants to......
So the answer to your question would be no...the man is doing what he's paid to do. Either piss off the public or incite them to righteous indignation....but either way, we keep tuning back in for more.

Sure maybe if he really had said that.
What he said actually was the boy may have accepted his fate with the kidnapper rather than trying to escape...meaning the kid was too affraid to escape and so therefor accepted where he was.
Quit watching your news on the Disney Channel.

O'Reilly should have been fired a long time ago. This time, however, he has gone over the edge. He should be forbidden a public platform to spread his ignorance.
PS- Nancy Grace should go, too.

With no offense to the boy, bill is known for this type of behavior. Yes, he should be fired, Actually, he should have been fired long ago. But he won't be fired.
consolation: bill is the rush limbaugh of the new millenium. let us all look forward to ridiculing his future drug problem.
