Egyptians are Quqazians, the ones of Mansoura are Nourdians due to the French invasion of Egypt.
Egyptians are mixed cultures, they were invaded many times by myriad civilizations, Arabs, Greek, Mongols, European and the Original Pharaohs, those all were blended together resulting in new races..the ones you see present days..

Egyptians are in a unique position! Although they are a part of Africa they are also partially in the Asian continent. Beyond this Egyptians and most North African counrties are a wide mix of light to dark. Northern Africa is boredered by the meditteranean which made it easy to be in contact with European countries like Spain, Italy and Greece. Egypt also had one of the oldest civilizations on earth and had extensive contact and trading with other civilizations in the fertile crescent and mediterranean. The Greeks and Romans were probably the most common. This is why Egyptians in the northern part of Egypt tend to be a little lighter than those further south. For example it is not uncommon to meet light haired, light skinned, light eyed people in Alexandria (founded by Alexander the Great a Roman). You also find extremely dark Egyptians further south close to Sudan. Even in Aswan many Egyptians have rather dark skin. Because of the constant mixing and blending with northern countries Egyptians have a wider range of skin tones. However it is also a natural occurance that people with light skin are further north or south and people with darker skin are closer to the equator. This has to do with sun and vitamin d absorption. Egypt has alot of arab culture now due to the spread of islam before that it had been largely converted to coptic christianity when the Romans became christian and started trying to convert the world. Before this it was largely the ancient egyptian religion or mixed religions since so many various peopel lived in Egypt. There is no such thing as race so no Egyptian is not a race of their own but the do have their own ethnicity and their own culture which although similar to many of it's neighbors is in and of itself unique just as any country is.

Just coz' you live in Africa it doesn't make you black...Most of north African countries are not black..so you see the culture of Egypt doesn't have to be the same for Nigeria (for example) just because they are both African. Look at America for instance you have the white Americans and the Latinos. They are in the same Continent but totally different people. Every country has a race of it's own..

Tunisians aren't black, lybians aren't black, Algerian's aren't black (and they speak french as well), alot of people in south Africa aren't black. Being in Africa doesn't mean you have to be black. Just like in Asia where you can find arabs in the west, Indians and pakis in the middle and chinese and japs in the east, all very different races but share the same continent.

And by the way, most Egyptians are arabs. Trust me on that (I'm one of them so I know what I'm talking about).

EGYPT is a very special country , special nation , and special people .

we considered as a Caucasian , but not all of us ,
if u judge according to skin color , we are not white, black or bronze .......... we have special natural tin , we have been invaded almost all the times and ages , and that's make a mixture of the all. but u still can find pure Egypt and pure Egyptians in villages and small cities ,even though ...there is clear red line we cant exceed , this what make us Egyptians before anything else ....yes we are Africans , yes we are Arabs , yes we are Muslims , yes we are Christians , some white , some black ,and some tin ( most ) but FINALLY WE ARE ALL EGYPTIANS ............... GRANDSONS OF PHARAOHS

i travelled alot in europe and i always knew any egyptian immediately when i see him whatever his skin or his dressing , and even if he lives in the country i'm visiting long time ago .

thats what we called egyptian pharaonic blood

People in South Carolina and people in Massachusetts, although different are still Americans. They may have different appearances, different values, different customs, but they are still Americans. Africa is a HUGE country, there is no way that everyone is going to look the same and have the same customs and values, just like in America.

Also, culture is not race related. Culture goes far deeper than race/skin complextion. All whites don't have the same culture and all blacks don't have the same culture.

Look at how different the American Plains Indians were from the Inuits or Tlingits of the North. Same basic race, very different culture and peoples.

Egyptians are, like Phsyco said, a mixture of many cultures.

We were pharaos, and then we were invaded by many countries and civilizations. One that he didn't mention and I think has the most effect is the Ottoman Empire, i.e. the turks.
Many of us, including me, have turkish roots, which makes us look rather European than African.

Other people have British roots (British occupation), French roots (French Occupation) and others have Greek roots.

have the same confusion before i went to Egypt for vacation.

Egyptians can look like Arab or black. In Cario, the capital of Egypt has more multi-race too. if you live in Egypt long enough, they tell you they are egyptian.

Egyptians are muslim, and they are much nicer adn friendly people unlike other muslim countries.

if you stole in Egypt, they cut your hand out of it. if you touch a woman without her permission, you can stay in jail for 6 years. if you date a girl, you need to come to see her family and get the money for deposit to get married with her in the future. it is no joke, but very nice place to visit.
