Dont give the baby any juice!! The baby's system can not handle it! i would call the doctor before you do anything. It could be that her formula is the problem, but please check with the doc.

my 11 week old suffered terribly from constipation for about 2 weeks. I was told to try warm water, if that didn't work, Coloxyl, which is a stool softener, which you either put in the bottle or directly into the mouth before feeding them, and if all else failed, i was told to try a glycerol suppository not the nicest thing in the world to do to your little one, but it gets things going, then keep going with coloxyl for the next 2 days four times a day with their feed. It did the trick it certainly works, you have to be cruel to be kind sometimes

Every child is different.... My fourth child would go 3-5 days before he would have a dirty diaper he was exclusively breastfed. Alarmed I asked the doctor and he said that I would be horrified to know the longest duration of time a child had gone without a bowel movement.. better yet why the parents waited so long. Your baby's digestive system is brand new. Just be patient, the dirty diapers will start rolling.

First of all, why do you think he/she is constipated?
It's normal for babies to grunt and strain and pull their legs up to their chests when they're pooping. Even to cry.
And it's normal for a new baby to poop seven times a day or to go up to seven days without. (Seriously--ask your pediatrician.)
Especially if you're breastfeeding, constipation is very, vary rare in a baby.
If you really think there's a problem, try taking his/her temperature rectally. Sometimes a little gentle stimulation is all they need to get things moving.
And if that doesn't work, call your pediatrician for advice specific to YOUR child.
Do NOT give a one-month-old water, prune juice or any other kind of juice, or Karo syrup. Just don't do it!

the baby is just developing its digestive system as another person wrote.. my daughter was the same, and now some days she can go 3 times a day. (she is 8 months old) but if it really concerns you.. see your doctor, or Maternal Child Health Nurse, or even call the hospital that you gave birth at. The midwives are generally fantastic and always have advice.

water, anything else at this age could help to foster a food allergy.
If you are using formula make sure that you are mixing it exactly according to the package. too much powder can cause constipation, too little and the baby is not getting enough nutrition

You would need to call your doctor to check and see if that's what that really is. They have things you can do. Do not give your baby juice. If you're going to give him water be careful... Your baby can get water intoxication. Which can really harm her. Be really careful.

100% this is to be told to you by your Doctor I know of some ways that my Doctor told me yet it is dangerous to give a laxative to a baby the Doctor needs to monitor this don't self remedy your baby. Sorry sounds harsh but please.

There is a syrup called "Kayro" there is white and brown, its in the normal grocery area. Put a very small amount of the white in her bottles. It worked for mine everytime. Also try pumping her legs. Do it for a good bit, like 45 min or so. It really really helps
