I am supposed to play a homosexual in a school play. Could anyone give me pointers on how to do it better. (I already watched ''Bird Cage'' and some other movies) I don't want to overdo it however.
What are the most common ''gay'' gestures?
Thanks bunches.
I hope I didn't offend anyone.

The best way to play a gay man is to be yourself. Don't put on an act of limp wristed queenyness, be the part. Look into your "partners" eyes with love and show the audience that your attraction to another man is what you like not who you are.
Watch Brokeback Mountain.

Can I safely assume that your school play's role is a stereotypical flamboyant homosexual on stage mostly for laughs? Bird cage ought to do it.

watching and mimicking generalizing stereotypes you see in movies and on TV would not make you a believable homosexual, except to people who don't know gays and lesbians and believe all the b.s. you see in the media. there are only "stereotypical" gay gestures...not common ones. do you have any gay or lesbian friends?

Sleeping with someone of the same sex as yourself is the most universal gay gesture, but I don't recommend it for your school play.
