The blood was probably from a tear in her rectum. That happened to my son alot. When he pushed to hard it gave him a fissure. My son is 11 months old and had frequent constipation. The GI doctor said to give him baby pear or prune juice mixed with water. It helped alot it made his stools looser and easier to pass. Gerber makes prune baby food. I hope this helps you it helped me alot. Good luck!

My eldest had poo issues and that i found the medical occupation no help in any respect! If i became you i'd not be in touch about the length of time between poops. all and diverse is diverse. what's pertaining to to is the consistency. i believe you're gong to ought to handle this your self without medical intervention - they could't do a lot besides. both major causes for constipation are dehydration and too a lot sophisticated sugar. So when you're nonetheless breastfeeding, then attempt to drink more effective water your self and decrease down on espresso and colas. provide infant sippy cups of water to drink. also attempt including a touch water to the coolest nutrients he eats. Prunes might want to correctly be a touch harsh on a tender digestive gadget, so somewhat cook dinner him up some apples, pears, and so on. he's likely a touch youthful for too a lot citrus fruit. To get him used to a diverse nutrients regimen, attempt feeding him a mixture of meals. E.g. pumpkin, cauliflower and apple all blended jointly. upload ripe bananas, mashed with a fork, to oat porridge (in basic terms cook dinner a touch oats with water interior the microwave). those are all approaches of having water into him and also giving him nutrients you've made your self so that you recognize has no further sugar, in basic terms the organic sugar from the fruit. it would want to take a touch time to motivate him to eat a mess of this stuff, yet by ability of the years it will make a huge difference. stay away from infant rusks and something sophisticated and pre-prepared. good success!

Good stuff to read here. Please don't give water to a baby so young without talking to your doctor. Perhaps your baby is a little dry but more breastmilk or formula may be a better drink than water.
Why Babies Don't Need Water
During the first year of life, babies generally don't need water. "They don't need any additional fluids beyond formula or breast milk," says Dr. Farrell. In fact, giving infants water can be dangerous because they easily suffer from water intoxication, a condition in which their developing kidneys can't excrete water fast enough. As a result, water builds up in the body and dilutes the electrolyte balance of the blood, causing seizures, coma, even death.
"To cause water intoxication, it takes no more than three, eight-ounce bottles of water given over 12 hours," says Dr. James P. Keating, MD, McKim Marriott professor of pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Water intoxication can also happen if your baby swallows too much water during an infant swimming class.
To avoid water intoxication, simply give your baby a little extra breast milk or formula instead of water if you sense he's thirsty on especially hot days, says Dr. Keating. (Diluted formula is another cause of water intoxication. Check the label for proper mixing instructions.) And be sure to instruct caregivers to do the same. Avoid giving your baby water if he's vomiting or has diarrhea. Under those circumstances, an oral electrolyte maintenance solution such as Pedialyte may be necessary. Consult your pediatrician. Uh, yeah, she was constipated and this is bad for such a little baby. Actually, it is bad for any baby and any person really. Give her a bottle of apple juice mixed with water or some prune juice and this will work wonders to give her relief from constipation and also help keep her regular.

Is she breast feeding or bottle feeding?
EDIT
Sorry I missed the part about the blood. Yes I would say she is constipated. Iif she seems to be straining to go - she will need to have some attention. And I don't recommend any home remedies for a 3 month old. You will need to speak to a nurse or medical practitioner or paediatrician.

Yep, she's constipated.
Formula fed babies are more prone to constipation than breast fed babies.
You should talk to your doctor. It used to be that we'd put a teaspoon of light Karo Syrup in the baby's bottle to help, but I'm not sure if that is done any more.

Yes this is normal. Take her back to her doctor. He will either change her formula or add sugar water to her diet. Every mother goes through this, but if she has gone 2 whole days with no bowel movement I would definitely discuss it with her doctor. The blood you saw in her stool was from straining to go to the bathroom. Left untreated she could actually hurt herself badly.

She was probably constipated as you said. Try giving her more fluids, so her stools will loosen. If it gets too bad, call her pediatrician to have her checked to make sure it isn't something else.

Apple juice will help to soften poop. If your baby had really hard poop that would cause it to have blood as long as it was not a lot you don't need to worried.
