Its not like they are ever going to succeed. Everything that can be invented has been invented. All the other discoveries will be just minor improvements.

ok, if theres nothing new then where is all the technological advancement coming from? For example Holographic media storage debuts this year, 300GB disks the size of DVDs...which by 2010 they're hoping to get to 1.6 TeraBytes. Funny, they couldnt do this 10 years ago...where'd all that technology come from? and thats not simply an improvement on the current technology. Its vastly different in how it stores data. If you bother to learn anything about how they compare you'll see...this is just one example of hundreds, if not thousands of new discoveries a year.

There's always room for improvement. How about faster cars? Or flying cars? I'm not into biology and health but there are still diseases to be cured. Cancer, heart disease, aids... What would you do when there's no more gasoline, would you walk? Do you ever think about the future? What would you do when there is not enough resources on earth? There are a lot more questions that give scientists their motivation. Not all scientist care just about the money too. There in intrinsic motivations like finding out new things that can help future generations. Do you just not care about the future of everything and everyone. It is curiosity and the need to improve that drives scientists to do what they do. Do you not have creativity or curiosity? Do you not care about others' lives? Do you care about the welfare or health of others? Just because you think you have everything, it doesn't mean everyone else does. If you don't even have a thought of the future and think scientists are wasting time, you are the most selfish person the big bang ever created. If you think none of the scientists are going to succeed, at least they are trying. What are you doing? Minor improvements are better than none. Do you have a cure for cancer? What if you were dying and you just needed a minor improvement to survive, what would you do? Sit back and wait for it? Why would you ask a dumb question twice?

People have been saying the same thing for thousands of years, yet humanity keeps making new discoveries. Their lack of creativity in imagining the future does not set a limit on scientific achievement.
