No matter how mentally prepared i am to go up or down a NON-MOVING escalator, the moment my feet touch the first steps, i STILL feel slightly unbalanced and i need to hold on to the railings for a second. Id understand the unsteady feeling if i expected the escalator to be moving and as i boarded it, it stopped. I challenge anyone to prepare themselves as long as they like before stepping on a stationary escalator to not feel that strange feeling. FEEDBACK PLZ! :)

Yep, your mentally preparing yourself to be on a moving conveyor, and when you get on and it's not moving, it throws you off. Whenever I go onto one I have to tell myself that it's not an escalator, it's a stairway. Then I run up it real quick like I would stairs and I don't let myself hesitate long enough to stop and realize something's wrong.

For me, I feel a little uncomfortable on stationary escalators because the steps have grooves on them. So, when I look down at all the escalator steps below me, I see various levels of grooves that appear to move. I think my sense of depth perception causes this optical illusion. Anyway, it's the perceived movement of groovy steps that always gets me. When the escalator is moving, the grooves are less noticable.

There's nothing wrong with you. You're just ready for it you feel strange because usually it's moving and when you're walking up on it you keep thinking that it might start moving and you keep holding the black belt. Don't worry bout it! =D

Because you're crazy just like the broken down elevator you've been riding! Can anyone else see this elevator?

It's all mental anxiety... your mind knows that you're not supposed to be mechanically walking so your nerves are firing rapidly and your seratonin levels are increased because you're not supposed to be physically walking.

I have no problems with it; i react the same as to normal stairs.

It could be happening because you get a little vertigo.
