Check your local walmart, kmart or target. Believe it or not, but they've started selling musical instruments such as guitars and drum sets for very low prices. They're not the best quality, but they're good for beginners and people looking for something at a lower price.

Another place to look is the local pawn shop. They have used instruments for sale and you can find some decent guitars for low prices. I'd recommend taking a look. The good thing with pawn shops is that you can trade other items you might have that you don't want any more and you can also try to negotiate on the price if you find something you really like.

Lastly, I'd check your local musical instrument store. Sometimes they have inexpensive "starter kits" that include guitars and amps from fender or gibson. They're decent quality and are great for beginners. You can also look in to lessons there if you're so inclined.
