Should we make reparations in cash money to the native Americans?

for what we took. which was most everything they had at one time.AND give them back some more land. that we took from them.YES & YES.

I don't know if we can be trusted to deal fairly with the Tribes..last time, we didn't. Someone might get the bright idea of paying in small pox-laced blankets or in trinkets.

If we really and truly wanted to do something, then we could build universities on the reservations and pay for their schooling. After a generation or two of well educated Native Americans hits the job market and the political arena, perhaps things will start looking up for them.

Your question is based upon a flawed notion that everything about the white man taking away their land was negative. If the white man had not moved across this nation, native americans would still be living in huts and chasing buffalo across the plains.

I would say yes to your question IF AND ONLY IF the native americans would all move onto a reservation, promise not to use electricity or any other modern inventions using electicity, ride horses everywhere they go, hunt and gather all of their food rather than have grocery stores, have no paved roads whatsoever on the reservation, refuse to use any and all medications to treat disease, etc. etc. etc.

Come on admit it. The native american is doing pretty well compared to what it would have been like without the white man. Political correctness and movies such as Dances With Wolves have spread a lie that -- White man bad. Red man good. Give me a break.

It is a bit late for that now, but it should have been done in the past. We can't undo history, but we can regret it and try to make things better for modern-day Native Americans. Rather than giving lump sums, special efforts should be made to promote Native American cultures and languages.

It's already being done. A lot of Native Americans receive monthly checks from the government. You have to be more than a certain percent Native American and you must be able to prove it.
